GWatermarker Web

Finally, after a laptop crash and a complete re-write later i was finally able to post the web version of GWatermarker at Jelastic. You can try it out here.

This is part of a process of porting my Engineering college watermarking project from C++ to Java.

Right now the UI is pretty basic. No styling at all. :)
I plan to use SproutCore or probably some new JS framework to build a better UI.
But before all that i want to get the next service online i.e. Invisible watermarking.
Lets see how it goes.

States i have visited in the United States of America

I love travelling. I love the very joy of being in a journey and seeing new places and meeting new people.
Working in the USA has given me a great opportunity of realizing my passion of seeing new places.
The numerous well maintained National Parks and scenic drives are a treat to anyone with a love for travel.
I have put a map below to show all the states i have visited.
I hope i will be able to see more and I plan on updating this in the future.

I started this blog in part to put in my experiences of travelling. Let's see how far it goes.

Digital Image Watermarking

In the my college days, i was very interested in image processing. I had a final year project on digital watermarking along with two of my good friends. That was back in 2004-2005.

Our original goal was to just provide a efficient software implementation for one visible and one invisible watermarking algorithm. At that time, most of the invisible watermarking schemes were implemented for grayscale images. But we wanted to do an implementation for color images. I was a little adamant about it and i am thankful for my project mates to support that decision. After a lot of research and effort, we ended up with a new algorithm for color images based on Discreet Cosine Transform and the YCbCr model.
My friend made a good website and posted links to it on multiple forums. It was his idea of marketing. :-)

This finally came under the eyes of a Professor who had written an algorithm which we had referred to during our research. He became very interested in this new algorithm which we developed and proposed that we submit a paper to IEEE.
With his technical writing expertise and background, he submitted a very good writeup and it got accepted in IEEE in 2006.

You can checkout the website developed by my friend here.

CA 1 Highway

Things i love about California 1 Highway

  • Pure coastal drive. You almost feel like you can drag your feet in the beach when you drive.
  • The beautiful blue Pacific waters.
  • Curvy roads all the way from Half moon bay to Santa Barbara. A complete pleasure to drive.
  • The light house and long beach at Point Reyes.
  • Awesome seafood at Monterrey. Especially the clam chowder and fish & chips.
  • 17 mile drive near Pebble Beach.
  • The Big Sur drive is too hard to explain in words. You have to drive to feel it.
  • The waterfall beach in Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park.
  • The waterfall at Limekiln state park.
  • The amazing bridges.
  • The breath taking drops off the edge of the road, ending up in the ocean.

My Technology Interests

I am passionate about architecture and design. I love doing performance optimization. I love rich user interfaces. I love to be able to transform complex systems to simple technology solutions.

I have expertise in the following technologies:

  1. Java / JEE
  2. Java Server Faces (JSF)
  3. HTML
  4. JavaScript (Object Oriented JavaScript)
  5. SQL
  6. Git
  7. RESTful webservices

I love learning new technologies. Something new and challenging is what drives me.
I am planning to learn Scala, which i feel is going to be the next big programming language.

I would love to drive architecture and design of systems that will really help to make people's lives better.
